On April 21, the "Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality" Strategy Summit Forum (the third lecture) was held in the Sunshine Forum of our university. Chen Xiaodong,aprofessoratNanyang Technological University and academician of Singapore National Academy of Science and the Academy of Engineering,Singapore, gave a wonderful academic report entitled "Extreme Electrochemical Energy Storage" for the faculty members and students. More than 300 young teachers and graduate students from the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials, the School of Civil Engineering, and the School of Electronic Engineering attended the forum, and Professor Fu Honggang presided over theevent.

With a view to the problems of electrochemical energy storage equipment, material mechanics and electrochemical matching, Academician Chen Xiaodong focused on the research in frontier fields such as lithium-ion battery operation under extreme conditions, electrochemical performance of flexible lithium-ion batteries, and low-temperature electrolytes. The forum plays a significant role in guiding electrochemical energy storage and further promoting the dual-carbon goals. The interdisciplinary integration of chemistry, physics, environment and materials will also drive and promote the construction and development of relevant disciplines and laboratories in our university.

After finishing the report, Academician Chen had a warm discussion with the teachers and students on the normal operation of lithium-ion batteries under extreme conditions, fast charging of lithium-ion batteries and high-entropy multi-component electrolytes. Professor Fu Honggang had an in-depth discussion with Academician Chen Xiaodong on how to effectively and reasonably achieve the "dual carbon" goals in China, and Academician Chen Xiaodong suggested that carbon reduction and environmental protection should be promoted in scientific research and life, and we should not only research and develop functional materials that can promote "dual carbon" goals, but also lead a low-carbon life by example .

Finally, Professor Fu Honggang presented Academician Chen Xiaodong with a commemorative medal for the academic report of the Summit Forum.
