The 2024 National Graduate Forum on Foreign Languages and Literature was held on November 23-24 atHeilongjiang University. The event was jointly organized by theuniversity’sGraduate School,theInstitute of the Russian Language,theSchool of Translation and Interpreting Studies,theCenter for Russian Language Literature and Cultural Studies, theSchool of Foreign Languages and Literature (School of Region and Country Studies), and the editorial office ofForeign Language Studies. The opening ceremony was attended by the university's president Wang Jingbo, leaders from the Graduate School and Heilongjiang University Press, as well as over a dozen experts from the field of foreign language studies and more than 100 graduate students . The ceremony was hosted by Sun Chao, Dean of the School of Advanced Translation.
In her speech, President Wang pointed out that the era of artificial intelligence brings both new opportunities and challenges to the field of foreign languages and literature.She emphasized that the university will continue to explorepractice-oriented,use-inspiredand multilingual talent training models, leveraging its traditional and geographical advantages, strengthening think-tank research, improving the quality ofsupporting innovative andtop-tier talent, and promoting the integration of disciplines and the development of a high-quality graduate education system.
Peng Wenzhao, Director of the Office of Development and Planning of Dalian University of Foreign Languages, delivered a speech on behalf of the distinguished guests. Yu Wenqin, a student from Peking University, spoke as a representative of the graduate participants.
The keynote speeches featured experts including Professor Liu Liguo (former professor of Dalian University of Foreign Languages), Professor Peng Wenzhao (Dalian University of Foreign Languages), Professor Chen Yong (National University of Defense Technology), Professor Zhao Hong (Xi'an University of Foreign Languages), Professor Xu Bo (Jilin University), Professor Ban Wentao (National University of Defense Technology), Professor Wang Hongming (Qufu Normal University), and Professor Mao Yansheng (Harbin Engineering University). These experts presented in-depth discussions from various perspectives, covering the latest developments in the field.
The forum included nine sub-forums under four main themes, with over 130 graduate studentspresenting their papers after a preliminary review. Following expert evaluations, 67 excellent papers were selected, including 10 first prizes, 17 second prizes, 20 third prizes, and 20 honorable mentions.
