Heilongjiang University Student Liang Wenjie Becomes Sole Provincial Torchbearer for 2025 Asian Winter Games

On the noon of February 3^rd, the 9th Asian Winter Games torch relay commenced under the theme "Winter Dreams, Asian Bonds", traversing 11 kilometers through Harbin's iconic landmarks from the Baroque Quarter to the viral Giant Snowman Plaza. Among 120 selected torchbearers, Liang Wenjie —a Mathematics postgraduate student at Heilongjiang University's School of Mathematical Sciences and member of the 25th Postgraduate Volunteer Teaching Corps — carried the flame as the 66th leg runner, representing all provincial universities. Besides, there are also online torch relay activities.

From submitting application to being selected as a award ceremony volunteer of  Asian Winter Games, Liang shows no laxity in any process. Untill now, she had been trained for over 240 hours. She bore in mind the significant meaning of torch relay activities and the royal responsibility of being a torch bearer. When trained in the field, she practiced rigorously and study earnestly. In addition, she also meticulously designed handover gestures such as high-fives and fist bumps. “When receiving the flame from Mr. Liang Xiaosheng — China's literary icon and our university's visiting professor — my heart swelled with pride,” she recalled. “For me, to be a volunteer representative attending torch relay activities of Winter Asian Games not only bring honors, but also require responsibility. I would convey voluntary spirits, display charisma of student from Heilongjiang university and contribute to the successful host of the games with great enthusiasm and positive attitude.”

Torch relay activities of Asian Winter Games start from Baroque Art District to Giant snowman square in Songhuajiang river wetland park via Binzhou Bridge, Zhaolin Park, Zhongyang Street, Harbin Flood Control Memorial Tower, and Jiuzhan Park. Meanwhile, since Harbin is well-known as “Double Asian Games City”, “the City of Olympic Winners” , “the City of Music in the World”, and “the International city of ice and snow culture”, there are nine performances such as cheerleading, instrument performance ice sculpture making etc., and interactive sites and three wonderful moments. All of this cheers for the torch relay, celebrates the asian winter games.

Heilongjiang University has dispatched over 700 faculty members and students to volunteer for the 9th Asian Winter Games, showcasing the vibrant spirit of its young generation. These volunteers have now been deployed across 14 venue clusters and various urban locations in Harbin. With unwavering enthusiasm and meticulous dedication, they are embodying the volunteer ethos, conveying the amicability and sense of responsibility characteristic of Chinese youth. Their efforts are injecting youthful vitality into the revitalization of Heilongjiang Province and the urban development of Harbin.
